TORONTO: Northern Lights
Direct Response Television has produced two Direct Response
Television commercials for Maritime Life, the new owners of
the Liberty Health business. Both spots promote FlexCare,
the Maritime Life Consumer Health Insurance Plan.
According to Bob Doyle, Senior Product Manager Consumer &
Small Business Markets at Maritime Life, the company wanted
to build upon the success of last year’s FlexCare DRTV
campaign – also produced by Northern Lights DRTV.
“We tried DRTV for the first time last year and it was
a tremendous success. This time we wanted to build on that
success while also informing consumers that Maritime Life
is the new owner of the Liberty Health business.”
According to Northern Lights President and Creative Director,
Ian French, the strategy was to stay with what had proven
successful in the past. “We knew from past experience
which creative treatment would make the phones ring so we
stayed as close as possible to that.”
The commercial features a man and a woman explaining that
government health insurance only covers basic health care
needs and explaining the importance of having supplemental
health insurance. A host then appears on camera encouraging
the viewer to call for a free, no obligation, information
package.
